The Process:

Moving forward with the intention of adding clean lines, geometric patterns, and a bright color pallet, I decided to go ahead and cover over 65% of the painting with black out white acrylic paint. Thus, giving myself sections of blank canvas to insert the patterns onto.

My next step is to plan out the design of the pattern, and the colors that I want to incorporate into the painting. My goal is to have a sizable contrast between the two layers. The color scheme should translate to the viewer as a layer of earthy tones, like terra cotta and sand dune, juxtaposed against bright and vivd colors like lime green and fuchsia. My vision and reasoning behind incorporating the two color pallets into one composition is, to really push the eye of the viewer. I want them to move between cold and hot color climates and a strata of organic and geometric brush strokes. The goal is to keep them engaged in the composition, one layer at a time.
