LITTLES THAT DIY: FLUID ART PAINTING

FLUID ART HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST KID FRIENDLY ART PROJECTS I HAVE DONE WITH MY LITTLES AT HOME! I LOVE HOW INTRICATE AND DETAILED THE RESULTS LOOK, BUT I ESPECIALLY LOVE HOW EASY IT WAS TO MAKE. MY BOYS LOVES POURING THE PAINT AND MANIPULATING THE DESIGN OF THE POUR. FOLOW THESE STEP BY STEP PICTURED INSTRUCTIONS AND MAKE SOME AMAZING ART WITH  YOUR LITTLE ONES TOO!

MATERIALS:

  • Canvas (or any other non porous painting surface).
  • Acrylic paint.
  • Cups ( I used paper cups and recycled them after).
  • Wooden stirring sticks (like popsicle sticks)
  • Water
  • Silicon based hair serum

 1. Start off by choosing your colors. I like to choose a variety of tones (dark & light) with the addition of black and white. Here I chose light pink, hot pink, hunter green, blood orange, black and white.

 5. Now, add in a couple drops of hair serum (one that has silicon in it) into each cup. The silicon helps to create the cells (bubbles) in the paint mixture and the artworks.

 15. The next step is to let the paint do its thing and drip all over each edge of the canvas until it is completely covered on all 4 sides.

 16. You will need to move the canvas from side to side, turn it around, and also tap it on its sides to achieve this look. You will not be able to manipulate the paint with a brush or your fingers, it will turn muddy and brown. It will eliminate the marbling effect you are going for in this project.
